ZART
Zart, is a remarkably talented musician. He fled his home after his mother’s death with just the leather jacket on his back, and wound up in Philadelphia in the height of the punk movement. Zart immediately falls in love with the scene, and joins forces with a well established musician named Antonio Salieri and his groupies, the Venticelli brothers. Salieri recognizes Zart’s talent, and introduces him to wealthy manager Joey Hapsburg. Hapsburg is impressed, and gives Zart a gig at his club, the Vienna.
There Zart meets Aloysia Weber, a wild punk girl. She pulls him right into her world, and shows him the marvels of heroin and sex. Zart falls into a wild relationship with her, and watches as his rockstar dreams come true.
Salieri, meanwhile, sets his sights on Aloysia ’s sister, Stanza. Younger, and more naieve, Stanza is starstruck by Salieri. However, when Aloysia and Zart split, Zart snatches Stanza from his mentor.
Zart begins a slow corruption of Stanza and himself. Now a true addict, his love of heroin is shared by Stanza. Together, they descend into decadence, blinded by love. Zart shrugs off all his responsibilities, including his gig at the Vienna. Too late, Stanza tries to escape, but can’t shake the hold heroin has over her. She dies of an overdose in Zart’s arms, and he breaks down completely.
Empty after this loss, Zart tries to regain his gig. Hapsburg refuses. With Stanza’s death on his conscience and nowhere to turn for help, Zart finds solace, and ultimately death, in drugs. His final song, Requiem, along with is talent, is lost.
